Olimpija makes a 13:0 run...the visiting coach is forced to take a time-out...The siren at Tivoli hall bellows...and the long-awaited Lady dragons take to the court showered by applause! It's Show Time!
The dance group is known at home and abroad by basketball and entertainment lovers alike. With their dinamic, attractive and varied choreography has excited fans since 1997. The group is led by the Trobec sisters, Zoja and Irena. The latter founded the Lady Dragons and gained her knowledge by attending professional camps in The USA. Since it's establishment, they are Union Olimpija's official dance group, and the dancers are probably Olimpija's most loyal fans.
This group of loveable and smooth-moving girls, interesting musical set pieces for music-lovers of all ages and a varied choreography will take you on a trip around the world. By all means, the Lady Dragons are an additional reason to come see BC Union Olimpija in action.
Lady Dragons do not excel only in the Tivoli hall, but pride themselves on their competition results.. Their performances at the Final Four in Bologna, at the Euro league opening tournament and as many as three final Goodyear league tournaments are memorable. They regularly perform in Italian, Croatian and, last but not least, Slovenian All Star games, national team games. They performed at the European Handball Championships, the Ski world Cup games and more. You can also catch Lady Dragons performing at many other sporting events, fairs, opening ceremonies, promotions and parties. They have won numerous prizes in sporting competitions and gave up competing in international and national competitions at the zenith of their glory. They are three times European Champions (Malmo 98, Helsinki 02-03, Stockholm 04-05), and seven times national champions. As members of the Slovene national dance team they have also won two World Champions titles (Tokyo 01-02, Manchester 03-04), under the watchful eye of their selector and coach of Lady Dragon Irena Trobec.
Currently, Lady Dragons count 18 top notch sport dancers. The attractive girls practice at least four times a week and have become friends after nine years of performing together. But above all, they have become a well-tuned, hard working and creative team. They also have a junior section, since there is great interest in younger girls to become Lady Dragons. There are two junior groups – Lady Dragons Junior and Mini Dragons, recruiting girls of the ages five and up. In Ljubljana is in this way possible to enjoy not only world class basketball performances, but also see the superb performances of the best cheerleading group around – Lady Dragons.
